The performing arts competition is not theme related.

Performance Divisions
  • JAZZ - Consists of primarily jazz technique, utilizing up-tempo music.
  • BALLET - Consists of ballet or pointe technique
  • TAP - Consists of tap technique. Tap shoes only.
  • HIP-HOP - Consists of rhythm and blues dance technique
  • SONG/RAP - R&B, Gospel, contemporary, etc.
  • INSTUMENTAL - Piano, violin, clarinet, flute, etc.
  
Guidelines

Students competing in the performing arts competition must submit a completed application form. Applications should be typed or printed.

Entrants may only compete in one performance division.

Point deductions will occur for those not complying with the time restrictions.

Teachers/parents of competing dancers will be given reserved seating. However, absolutely no visual coaching is allowed.

Props may be used but must be supplied and removed by the entrants. Excessive scenery and special lighting may not be used.

  
Mandatory AuditionA mandatory audition for all entrants will take place at 6 pm on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Roosevelt Middle School, 1900 N. Australian Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407. Entrants must audition in order to compete.
  
Considerations:
Teachers should consider length and choreography in making selections for entries.

Judging:
The performances will be judged by an impartial panel of judges. The competition will take place on January 19, 2008, 7:00 pm at Roosevelt Middle School.
  
Awards:1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards will be given at each level. Certificates will be given to all entrants, regardless of their placement.
  
Resume:The entrant's resume and photo should be available upon request.
